HRRDS NFI DISTRIBUTION EVENT FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH DISABILITIES IN KAUDA- NUBA MOUNTAINS, SUDAN
On 8th/03/2022 International Women’s Day, HRRDS held its first phase of a distribution event providing NFIs and other items to People Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in upper Kauda; witnessed by Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Agency SRRA). This marks the beginning of a potentially significant initiative to provide the much-needed support to these vulnerable groups.
Hope Relief and Rehabilitation for Disabilities Support (HRRDS) with little resources, continues to engage these groups by creating awareness and sanitizing the community on how to effectively address their plights and ease their integration with community and the are right as part of the human being regardless.
The event brought about different stakeholders including institutions and the community filled with joy and excitement, creating a one-of-kind atmosphere. HRRDS was able to engage PLWD, hear their challenges and took the opportunity to explain its mission as well as goals towards assuring the rights of the group and create initiatives that would empower them. In light to achieving the sustainable development goals, and with proper funding, HRRDS is striving to fully integrate, advocate and provide psychosocial and trauma healing mechanism in Sudan’s conflict affected areas.
It was exciting to hear from people living with disability, their caretakers; and with the community’s acceptance and funding, HRRDS would move forward with its proposed plan to build a rehabilitation centre and be a referral point for psychosocial counselling and trauma healing as well as create a vocational centre as a sustainable mean towards economically empowering them.
